Tackett & Associates is a full service investigative agency, specializing in
corporate and insurance investigations, and anti-fraud compliance. We provide an
amazingly wide array of services
that extend beyond
standard corporate, insurance and anti-fraud investigations, but which are
closely related and which nicely complement our core services.
We are a private investigative agency, licensed by the state of
California to contract investigative and related security services.
Although our main offices are located within the Southern California area,
our service area covers the entire state of California, the entire western region and the
entire nation, through our network of professional affiliates.
This agency was founded in
1990 by Eric Tackett. Mr. Tackett is a former law enforcement officer and
private investigator with investigative experience spanning three decades.
During his years of service Mr. Tackett pioneered highly specialized forensic
investigative protocols in areas such as Underwater Crime Scene Investigation as
a law enforcement investigator and in medical provider fraud as a private
has also served both the public and private sector as instructor and
training officer. As a NAUI and PADI Certified Open Water SCUBA
Instructor, he achieved the rating of Master Diver Instructor,
having developed five diving specialty courses, including two highly
specialized courses of training - Underwater Crime Scene
Investigation and Rapid Deployment Underwater Search & Rescue,
authorizing training textbooks and providing high level training in
these specialty areas in Southwest Washington State for many years.
Mr. Tackett served as an instructor for both the Washington State
Criminal Justice Training Commission and the Washington State
Department of Emergency Services.
In the private
sector, Mr. Tackett has served the anti-fraud community in various
capacities, including both on the Board of Directors and as Vice
President of the Southern California Fraud Investigators'
Association, in addition to serving the Board of Governors of the
National Health Care Anti-Fraud Association. He has also served on
the California Department of Insurance Workers' Compensation Fraud
Training Work Group, as well as nationwide healthcare cooperative,
known as Industry Collaborative Effort (ICE), where he served as
team leader and his training presentation on healthcare anti-fraud
programs was adopted nationwide. He has also served the private
sector as both an SIU Manager for a regional managed health care
insurer and as the Corporate Director of SIU for one of the largest
health insurers in the nation. He also served as Director of
Training for the California Investigative Academy, a California
Department of Insurance approved Continuing Education Provider. In
his capacity as a corporate trainer for the anti-fraud industry, he
has provided training on his investigative techniques to
representatives of virtually every major carrier licensed to do
business in California, as well as private and law enforcement
investigators on the local, county and state level, including deputy
district attorneys from various California counties and even the
California Department of Insurance, Fraud Bureau.
has authored a number of training textbooks and magazine articles on
a wide variety of investigative topics including, but not limited
to, insurance fraud and
underwater crime scene investigation. Mr. Tackett has also developed
courses of training and published training manuals in the area of rapid deployment underwater

Tackett has retired, the company remains active under the direction
of his wife and partner for 32 years, Ruth Tackett. Mrs. Tackett has
an extensive insurance industry and anti-fraud background, having
directed all administrative functions for Tackett & Associates
from it's inception, as well of many years of experience in the
Mrs. Tackett has extensive experience in both the investigative and
insurance industries, having worked side-by-side with Mr. Tackett
from the founding of this company and having worked in-house for a
major California Insurance Carrier for many years.
Ms. Tackett, who has taken over the reigns of field operations for
the company from her father, has extensive experience in the
mortgage industry, where for many years conducted background
investigations and licensing verification of real estate brokers, in
addition to other related industry services. She also has formal
training and experience in the healthcare industry and currently
directs all field operations for Eric Tackett & Associates.
Our staff is supplemented by team of on-call experienced
investigators who were personally trained by Mr. Tackett and/or who
have received highly specialized training through the California
Investigative Academy, a California Department of Insurance approved
Continuing Education (CE) provider.
